Growth of Teacher Understanding of Mathematics within a CSCL Environment

This study focused on growth of understanding about ratios and fractions by a group of four pre-service teachers engaged in a computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) environment. Participation in the CSCL environment was found to facilitate the processes of “folding back” and “thickening” [1] of mathematical concepts and thus contributed to the pre-service teachers making considerable advances in their understanding of ratios and fractions.
