Bicycle Flow Modeling and Simulation Based on Cellular Automaton

For studying urban mixed-traffic,an one-way bicycle model based on two-dimension cellular automaton(CA)was brought forward after the moving characteristics of bicycle flow were analyzed.The size,velocity,state space and attribute,adjacent region of the cellular and the evolvement rules of local cellular were included in the model.Theoretical analysis and experimental results indicate that the model describes the bicycle flow effectively,and the digital simulation data on velocity-density-flux and maximum traffic capacity accord with practical or experiential data.The influence of lane number on bicycle capacity is investigated using this model.The simulation result shows that one-lane capacity increases alone with the added lane width,but the increasing magnitude is descending and will cease till a certain number of lanes.This trend completely obeys qualitative analysis.
