Guided Waves in Fluid-Filled Pipes Surrounded by Different Fluids: Prediction and Measurement

Cylindrical guided waves propagating along a pipe wall can be used in a long-range test for corrosion and other defects. This method has been successfully developed for the detection of corrosion in pipes in above ground applications [1]. However, since many pipes of interest are buried, there is a need to investigate wave propagation with liquid media in the bore and liquid or solid media on the outside.
