HARBORING POLLUTION: THE DIRTY TRUTH ABOUT U.S. PORTS

This report evaluates efforts at the 10 largest U.S. ports to control pollution. It also delivers an overview of policy and practical recommendations to mitigate pollution. Topics covered include: air pollution from port operations, water pollution from port operations, land use problems at ports, and port community relations. The 10 ports discussed are: Los Angeles, California; Long Beach, California; New York-New Jersey (the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey); Charleston, South Carolina; Oakland, California; Hampton Roads, Virginia; Seattle, Washington; Savannah, Georgia; Houston, Texas; and Miami, Florida.
