Target selection and development in 3D laser scanning based on sampling interval

In 3D laser scanning technology, it is very important for targets to the point cloud registration. Because of the difference of noise, target types and target materials, the difficult extent is different to extract target centre, even the target centre could not be extracted, which affects eventually point cloud registration and its accuracy. This requires scanning job must select rightly targets and arrange the target legitimately in scanning. The paper set different sampling intervals, scanned standard target, self-made material targets and extracted target centre coordinates. Taking the total station surveying data as true value, the paper compared scanning center and fitting center of the total station surveying data, and got the best in application with a sampling interval, which provides a reference for scan working or project practice.
