This paper describes a simulation technology for traffic intersection safety systems with DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication). In the development of safety systems using DSRC, it is necessary to evaluate/test the developed system in various traffic situations. But it is difficult to carry out the evaluations and tests in the real world using DSRC wireless communication between moving vehicle equipped with DSRC on-board unit(OBU) and the roadside system which has a DSRC road side unit(RSU), because of the cost and safety problems. In order to solve this problem, a real-time simulator for traffic intersection safety systems was developed in cooperation with real DSRC system, making it possible to do evaluations in the laboratory.
