The method includes receiving and storing subscription information input by a user, wherein the subscription information at least comprises content needed to be subscribed and identification of the user; establishing a corresponding relation between the user and the subscription information according to the identification; monitoring the content subscribed by the user and determining whether the subscription content is updated; if yes, determining the user corresponding to the subscription content according to the corresponding relation; and generating an update prompt message and pushing the update prompt message to a corresponding user. According to the method, when the subscription content is updated, relevant information can be pushed to users, and the users can know timely about the updating conditions of the subscription content.
