Performances of Cement-stabilized Macadam with Multilevel Dense Built-in Grading structure gradation

In order to improve the performance of Cement-stabilized Macadam, based on the principle of stage filling theory and adopting vibration test method, Multilevel Dense Built-in Grading structure gradation (MG gradation) of Cement-stabilized Macadam is determined. Some tests such as indoor vibration compaction test, strength test in the mechanics and CBR Granular Flow numerical simulation technology were carried out to compare the composition and properties of Cement-stabilized Macadam between the skeleton close-grained gradation in the book JTG D50-2006 Specifications for Design of Highway Asphalt Pavement (GF gradation) and Multilevel Dense Built-in Grading structure gradation (MG gradation). The study shows that, compared with mineral aggregate of GF gradation,CBR value of MG gradation increases by 8 ∼ 15% while the maximum dry density of Cement-stabilized Macadam with MG gradation increases 1.4% compared with Cement-stabilized Macadam with GF gradation, and it is easier to be compacted. In addition, 28-days unconfined compressive strength value of Cement-stabilized Macadam with MG gradation increases by 6∼12%, ultimate strength increases by 8∼20 % and 28-days splitting strength increases by 8∼15%. It is indicated by the project that Cement-stabilized Macadam with MG gradation has better crack-resistance. Therefore, Cement-stabilized Macadam with MG gradation has broad application prospect.
