Learning DICOM by solving real clinical problems

The Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) is the standard used to encode medical images or information about the images. It is also used to exchange medical images or imaging information between different systems. DICOM is commonly used in radiology and other imaging domains. Its need outside the imaging department is increasing with the Electronic Health Record. Learning DICOM takes time because it defines and uses abstract concepts. In this paper, we describe how learning DICOM can be achieved very quickly by solving real problems inspired from real clinical scenarios.
