STATE-OF-THE-ART AND FUTURE WORK IN BUILDING AND SYSTEM SIMULATION

Many buildings are still constructed or remodelled without consideration of energy conserving strategies that could, in many cases,be incorporated in a cost-effective manner. To provide substantial improvements in energy consumption and comfort levels, there isa need to treat buildings, with their individual subsystems, as complete optimised entities- as indicated in Figure 1 - not as the sum of a number of separately optimised components.
