VideoExpress: a meta-service system for video on demand

In designing video on demand (VOD) service management, an appropriate promotion is necessary to encourage attraction of information providers. We define some functionalities of VOD service management as VOD meta-services and then propose a VOD meta-service system, named VideoExpress. It allows one to support VOD services from an information providers' standpoint. One goal for VideoExpress is to manage video programs by using a functional cycle that comprises phases of trend analysis, service planning and meta-service delivery. We also introduce a location mapping (that is required for the VideoExpress operations) as a new network control item. Then we discuss some advantages of the location mapping.<<ETX>>
