On-line Auto-tuning Of PID Controllers Based On Cross Correlation

This paper presents the development of an on-line version of a new auto-tuning algorithm for PID controllers based on the cross correlation technique which does not disturb the normal operation of the process. The design rules for setting the length and bit interval of the PRBS probing signal in this new algorithm are discussed. The accuracy and performance of this auto-tuning method are also substantiated by extensive simulations.
