Jacking eases tank bottom work

It`s not unusual for a maintenance contractor to place jacks under a tank that`s suffering from bottom problems so it can be fixed. A growing use for jacking is the upgrading of tank foundations. In Europe, refinery tank farms are increasingly jacking up storage tanks to install impermeable linings beneath them. New regulations require that all new tank foundations and tank pits in Europe be impermeable. Though existing tank pits/dikes have up to 10 years to meet the tighter regulations, some terminal operators are opting now to install such liners as their tanks undergo upgrading, relocation or replacement. European oil refinery tank farms and other liquid storage facilities also are using jacks when lifting tanks for tank bottom repair, or installing special foundations.
