Accuracy of Hospital Diagnostic and Operative Procedure Coding

The quality of Hospital Activity Analysis [HAA] data needs to be assured if it is to be relied upon as a basis for planning services and setting contracts in the new National Health Service. Accuracy and completeness are important measures of the quality and our study assessed the accuracy of inpatient clinical coding in the three main teaching hospitals in South Glamorgan.
