Design, Synthesis, Application and Recovery of Guar Gum 5-Amino Salicylic Acid Hydroximate [GASAH] Resin for Selective Separation and Determination of Trace and Heavy Metal Ions

The ion exchange method is applied for removal of heavy metal ions from industrial wastewater and determines the applicability of synthesized guar gum 5-amino salicylic acid hydroximate (GASAH) resin. The effect of experimental parameters such as pH, agitation speed, contact time, adsorbent dose and flow rate on the removal of metal ions has been studied. Fourier-transform infrared spectrum and elemental analysis were used to determine the physiochemical properties of this resin. The GASAH behaves as a monofunctional acid with ion-exchange capacity of 4.26 meq/g for metal ions. The distribution coefficients of heavy metal ions were determined at different pHs.
