The cost constraint is a main problem causing the development of computer technology in an institutions becoming slowly. Low cost computerization becomes a hope for every institutions. This factor pusher the idea of using Root File System on Network File System based on GNU/Linux operating system as a cheap tool in the development information technology. The server needs DHCP, TFTPD, NFS server and NBD server that can be used for serving client with Root FS on NFS. The Client needs the root directory including its files and the minimum configuration before get the fully access by NFS. Root FS on NFS can be used at server with not-too-high computer specification. The work load of CPU and Root FS memory on NFS server are not too big. The concept of Root FS on NFS is based on GNU/Linux operation system with Slackware distribution version 8.0 can be used a basis for low cost development of information technology.
