Experimental investigation into performance of three-phase induction motor under single phasing using static capacitor phase converter

This paper analyses the performance of a three-phase induction motor under single phasing condition. A static converter using a capacitor is used to generate the third phase of the three-phase supply. The induction motor is coupled to a DC generator for loading purpose. The static phase converter can be easily built as a composite unit and will be very useful for defence purposes and in rural areas. Using this device the motor can be loaded nearly to full load without sacrificing much of the performance.
