New data on Tcholmanvissiidae (Orthoptera; Permian)

Abstract The composition and members of the Tcholmanvissiinae (representatives of the ‘oedischioids’ stem-group) are revised. One of us (O.B.) examined all available specimens, allowing a better appreciation of intraspecific variability in the wing venation and a proposal of new diagnostic specific and generic characters. Several genera and species are synonymized. Finally, close relationships betweenTcholmanvissiinae and Tettoedischiinae are supported by data on relief of veins and organization of the cubital area. Previous hypotheses of relationships between Tcholmanvissiinae and Titanoptera or Caelifera are dismissed.
