Development of grip strength measuring systems for infants

The grip strength of infants is confirmed by the congenital grasp reflex that is triggered according to sensory changes perceived by the skin, such as the sensation of a finger pressing the palm of their hand or when they are touched immediately after birth. Although the grasp reflex disappears approximately four to six months after birth, it transforms to finger development such as the actions of grasping and pinching, and there is a close relationship between these actions and the development of cerebral functions. However, measuring the grip strength of infants was never attempted before. The purpose of this study is to develop grip strength measuring systems for longitudinal measurement of the grip strength of infants.
