Fatigue testing of a full scale steel rotor blade of the WPS-30 wind turbine

Abstract The work presented here describes the fatigue test of a full scale rotor blade of the WPS 30 wind turbine. This is the wind turbine for the wind farm at Sexbierum. As a final verification of the fatigue design, a large scale fatigue test on a rotor blade (including the blade foot and the hub) was started september 1986 and finished 9 months later in July 1987. After these 9 months, all parts of the rotor blade and blade foot have suffered an equivalent lifetime of at least 20 years (being the design life of the wind turbine).
