The invention provides a method and a device for providing a service. The method for providing a service includes: receiving a service request message, in which current location information of a user and a service type required for the user are carried; looking up, according to the service request message, contact information of a service provider who can provide the service type in a range specified by the location information; and sending user information to the service provider according to the contact information of the service provider, and providing, by the service provider, the service to the user according to the user information. According to the method for providing a service provided by embodiments of the invention, it can be ensured that the user is able to acquire the required service in the shortest time, which improves service efficiency and enhances user experience.
