Radar detector which can discriminate signal pattern and method of detecting signal

Disclosed are a radar detector capable of discriminating a signal pattern and a signal detection method using the same. According to the present invention, the radar detector comprises: a digital voltage control unit to apply digital sweep voltage to a first local oscillator; and a control unit including a signal analysis means to analyze a signal inputted from a signal converter and a first local oscillator control means adjusting the sweep voltage of the digital voltage control unit to control an oscillation frequency of the first local oscillator. The first location oscillator control means fixes the sweep voltage of the digital voltage control unit for a set period when a frequency component to be analyzed in the signal analysis means is selected, so as to constantly maintain the oscillation frequency of the first local oscillator. According to the present invention, since the sweep voltage applied to the first or second local oscillator can be controlled in real time, the oscillation frequency of the first or second local oscillator can be fixed for a predetermined time when a signal is received, so a pattern and a transmitter type of the received signal can be quickly determined. Accordingly, an incorrect alarm by a signal of a different transmitter, not a signal of a speedometer or an overspeed regulation camera, can be prevented. Moreover, since a second signal converter is used separately from the first signal converter, an alarm can be correctly provided to a driver when a signal of an intermittent wave type is received as well as a signal of a continuous wave type.
