PLC hybrid integrated WDM transceiver module for access networks

This paper describes an optical wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) transceiver module for access networks, which is hybrid integrated on a silica-based planar lightwave circuit (PLC) platform. The fabricated module exhibits an insertion loss of 0.9 dB for a 1.55 μm wavelength signal, an optical output of 0 dBm, a photo-responsivity of 0.41 A/W, and a minimum received power of -37 dBm at 50 Mbit/s for a 1.3 μm signal.
