Incidental learning of word meanings while reading: a Chinese and American cross-cultural study

Les AA. etudient l'apprentissage naturel du sens des mots pendant la lecture chez 447 enfants americains et chinois. A partir de deux textes (l'un lu, l'autre pas), les enfants ont du repondre a un ensemble de questions portant sur la signification de mots difficiles issus des deux textes. Les resultats montrent l'existence d'un apprentissage incident significatif du sens des mots dans les deux pays. Ceci implique que l'acquisition du sens des mots pendant la lecture est universelle dans le developpement de la langue ecrite
