The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a log file, a file serial number and key words in the log file; selecting any key word as the current key word; detecting the current key word; inserting a current file serial number into a re-applied indexing space; judging whether an actual effective file range in the indexing space of the current key word is smaller than a preset critical value of the indexing space or not; storing all indexing information in the effective file range; recording an insertion position and offset quantity information by utilizing a sequence retrusion pointer; integrating a temporary effective file range pointer and the sequence retrusion pointer to form new indexing space information; judging whether the integrated indexing space information has three single increment sections related to the offset quantity; ending the processing. By adopting the method and system, the memory space can be saved, the efficiency is relatively high when the setting rate is relatively low or the insertion position is relatively close to a largest updating position, and the space dynamic adjustment can be carried out.
