This is a study on the optimum proportionings of Singly
reinforced concrete Slab-Band Floor by using SUMT which
is considered as one of the most efficient and widely
used optimization techniques in the structural
optimization. This study is specifically intended to
propose a formulation and solution method in order to
obtain the optimum steel ratio, steel areas and optimum
effective depths of slab,Band, and Marginal beams for the
preliminary design of Slab-and Floor systems.
The objective functions are formulated as the cost functions
by considering the unit cost of concrete. steel and
formings. The constraints equations of slab, Band and
Marginalbeam sections are derived by including the flexural
stress constraints, minimum steel ratio, minimum depth of
each sections, and deflection constraints. Thus,Thi
s study constitutes a nonlinear programing problem, this
nonlinear programing problem is converted to a equivalent
optimization problem by using SUMT method and the Newton
Raphson method which is well suited for the two variables
optimization problem is adopted as the unconstrained
minimization techniques for SUMT.
