Advanced fluid dynamics and heat transfer

A biography of James Tytler. the first man in Great Britain to rise from its surface in a balloon. The Grand Edinburgh Fire Balloon was a hot air balloon with which Tytler made experiments in 1784. In mockery more than in admiration he became known as "Balloon Tytler". His flights were brief. This book gives a good account of the times in which he lived. He was in turn chemist, surgeon, printer, mechanic, journalist, editor, poet and pamphleteer. Although gifted with many talents he failed to reach success or profit, undertaking many things for a mere pittance, including the editorship—and in great part—the authorship of the second edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. A very readable book compiled after much research by the author.—J. L. NAYLER.
