Actual Language Use and Competence Grammars

In their target article, Kempson, Cann, Gregoromichelaki and Chatzikyriakidis (henceforth KCGC) begin with the observation that language use (production and comprehension) is incremental, and that this incrementality is particularly evident in normal dialogue situations where hearers complete speakers’ sentences (and back again).
