Adaptive multiple-beam array for wireless communications

The wireless channel is characterized by multipaths with time-varying path losses, phase distortions (delays) and Doppler shifts. Adaptive multiple-beam forming with cochannel interference (CCI) is simulated using a ring array with periodic least mean square (LMS) training. The array performance in a multipath with CCI environment is evaluated in terms of symbol error rate (SER) using a QPSK signalling scheme. The SER degradation due to CCI depends on the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and the CCI path DOA. Path tracking is also demonstrated for a single path moving in discrete steps. >
