A STUDY ON THE ROLES AND PLANNING PROCESS OF LIGHT RAIL TRAIN IN THE GREATER COPENHAGEN REGION, DENMARK

We clarify the total discussion process of the light rail train (LRT) building plan in the greater Copenhagen region in Denmark and the urban vision called LOOP CITY including Skone region in Sweden. The LRT plan is leading urban redevelopment projects around some of directly related 9 municipalities. According to the interview of 5 municipalities, they highly expect to create new work places and increase residents by LRT projects. Moreover, urban research shows many people will change to public transportation from private cars. Representatives from 11 municipalities are trying to have a dialogue from the preliminary draft plan after 2007.
