Static solutions of the leipholz problem

Abstract If the external loads on a bar remain in the original direction after buckling, the character of the problem is conservative. When these loads are tangentially-directed the problem is nonconservative and in this case the critical load must be calculated by the dynamic and by the static adjoint method. In this paper the critical buckling load of the strut which is built in at the bottom and compressed by a distributed tangential load is calculated by the static adjoint method.
