Dieback and mortality of tamarack stands in an extensive area in Saskatchewan has attracted attention in recent years. Investigation has shown the cause to be unusually high water. The evidence includes the development of adventitious roots above high water level and adventitious shoots in the crown, both coinciding with records of high levels in adjacent Peter Pond Lake.
