Campus directions

In this paper, we describe a system that allows visitors to a college campus to take meaningful self-guided tours. A visitor can use a device that uses a global positioning system (GPS) to display his or her current location. Users can select destinations around campus, and the system calculates the shortest path from the current location to the destination. A user can indicate that he is handicapped, and the system will not include routes that have stairs or other obstacles. Along the way to a destination, information appears as the device gets close to important landmarks on campus. This paper will present the current status of the project, preliminary results, and plans for future work.
