Method and apparatus for adaptive media playout for intra-media synchronization

A method and an apparatus for reproducing adaptive media for synchronization within media are provided to reduce the amount of time distortion such as a RMSE(Root Mean Square Error) value of discontinuous reproduction due to delay or jitter in comparison with media reproduction methods based on an existing buffer threshold value. A method for reproducing media comprises the following steps of: calculating a reproduction interval for reproducing a current j-numbered frame of a received media stream, wherein j is a natural number; and reproducing the current j-numbered frame after waiting for the calculated reproduction interval after receiving the current j-numbered frame. A method for calculating the reproduction interval comprises the following steps of: calculating the buffer level of a (j+w)-numbered frame, wherein w is a natural number(721); estimating one of reproduction stop and reproduction skip on the basis of the calculated buffer level(724,725); and calculating the reproduction interval for reproducing the current j-numbered frame for one of the estimated reproduction stop and reproduction skip(726).
