Abstract This paper describes a combined algorithm for daily load forecasting. It is based on the determination of three load components, which require the load and the meteorological data of the past as well as their forecast by the weather service. This method was applicated to three different German utilities. Thereby the temperature forecast error is considered. Detailed results for test periods up to three years are given. Some aspects for future work in this field are suggested.
