Impact of Beta-distributed Wind Power on Economic Load Dispatch

Abstract In this article, an economic load dispatch model for is developed the system consisting of both thermal generators and wind turbines. The wind power is a random variable and is assumed to follow the beta distribution. In this model, the probability of wind power is included in the constraint set. This approach avoids the probabilistic infeasibility caused by improperly using the average of random variables. Then the impact of wind power with different parameters on economic load dispatch is investigated. Results of numerical simulations for a generic system are presented.
