To reduce the management complexity of power grid planning and design data and facilitate it shared, Geographic Information System (GIS) was introduced into the power grid planning and design processes. Utilizing the powerful ability to handle and manage spatial data of GIS, Distributed map of power, operational parameters, equipment nameplates and other image-attribute information were managed and vindicated wholly, and an unified power grid planning database was build. Based on it, a power g rid planning and design platform based on GIS has been constructed through integration of multiple calculation software of power grid planning, and GIS could be applied through the whole course of power grid planning and design. Based on this, the management of power grid data becomes more integrative, normalized and standardized, and the data transformation of planning business and seamless connection of planning processes become more convenient.
