Evaluation of Protocols for Wireless Networks

Saad Biaz Gavin Holland Young-Bae Ko Nitin Vaidya Department of Computer Science Texas A&M University College Station, TX 77843-3112 Abstract This paper summarizes some research in the area of wireless networking, performed at Texas A&M University. Experience using two public-domain simulation tools is described. Research discussed here is in three areas: routing in mobile ad hoc networks, TCP performance in mobile ad hoc networks, and the performance of TCP over wireless links. We conclude that, although the publicly available simulation tools are useful for conducting research, much work is still needed to make them user-friendly and easy to adapt.
