The role of air cargo in California's agricultural export trade

This report examines the role air cargo services are having in transporting California's agricultural exports to international markets. The report describes both the air cargo industry worldwide as well as the air cargo system in California. It discusses how various economic, technological and demographic trends are combining to alter that system. The report presents results of a survey of fruit and vegetable packers/shippers and other agricultural industry representatives. It concludes with a statistical appendix indicating detailed data on airborne exports of 250 agricultural commodities and processed food products from California from 1999 through 2003.
