REVIEW OF EXISTING GUIDELINES FOR INFORMATION PRESENTATION IN VEH

The document is intended to provide a guide for future experiment work and the production of a guideline handbook for the HARDIE (Harmonisation of ATT Roadside and Driver Information in Europe) project. Application areas covered are: autonomous intelligent c control; route guidance and navigation; traffic and travel information; and collision avoidance. The proposed structure of handbook is developed. Display aspects of each application is di into relevant topics or headings which cover all issues related t information presentation. Guidelines readily available for desig and applications covered in each reference are identified. Areas where there are wide gaps are shown. Designers and members of ot DRIVE projects were contacted to identify questions concerning di presentation which should be considered in the experimental secti of the project. Most available guidelines are general and are designed for office, control room or military purposes. Most det was to be found in traffic and travel.
