Research on Application of Novel Harmonic Suppression Rectifier Transformer and Its Filter System in the Electrolysis Rectifier System

A novel harmonic suppression rectifier transformer and its filter system based on transformer inductive filtering technology is proposed in this paper for the electrolytic rectifier system. The proposed rectifier transformer adopts three-winding structure, in which, the power winding at the primary side adopts star connection scheme, and both load and filter windings at the secondary side adopt delta connection scheme. Connecting the converter to the load winding and the full-tuned filter equipments to the filter winding, and adopting unique zero equivalent impedance design at the filter winding, the novel rectifier transformer and its filter system can effectively suppress harmonic currents and compensate some reactive power at the valve-side. In this paper, the connection scheme, work principle, and harmonic suppression mechanism of novel rectifier transformer are analyzed. Based on this, the simulation model is established. The simulation and field test results show that the new scheme has excellent filtering effects, and can improve system power factor and operating efficiency. In addition, the vibration, noise and loss of novel rectifier transformer caused by harmonics are significantly reduced.
