INTRODUCTION The recently rapid increase in use of color to enhance communication from computer screens in human-computer interfaces has resulted in an awareness of the problems created by the inappropriate assignment of color and the opportunities provided by effective use of color. To address the current situation, manufacturers, users, and other groups have published guidelines. In addition, some companies and organizations have implemented standards for computer screen color. At present, some scientific, ergonomic data exists, but many issues remain uncertain and debatable.
