Metabolism analysis and optimization suggestions of the water system in the manufacturing process of glyphosate.

This study used industrial metabolism analysis to analyze the water utilization process of the glyphosate production system in a pesticide group case study.Based on the analysis, the group's water balance accounting was established, and a water metabolism map was provided.Furthermore, the study identified the main water-using and wastewater discharge units in the system and provided some optimization suggestions. The results show that steam is the main kind of water resource in the production system. The heat exchange network(HEN) is rather simple, and a large amount of steam is consumed in the steam consumption units. Furthermore, the steam condensate is not utilized efficiently, and its discharge causes serious waste of water resources.Based on the analysis, the study provides some suggestions such as reuse of the process wastewater and the optimization of the heat exchanger network among the main steam-using units so as to enhance the water utilization efficiency.
