Towards a comprehensive office model integrating information and resources

A socio-technical information system like an office exhibits a variety of aspects of different nature. A correct and formal specification of an office therefore yields quite a complex model. Its essential components not only include the office functions and their informational interrelationships but also technical and human resources, procedures, aims and rules. Moreover, a realistic office model must be able to deal with evolution, change, contingency and uncertainties during the life time of the system. The paper presents an approach to a comprehensive office model which is based on the Petri net theory.
