Gray level transform algorithm basing on hue/saturation/luminance color space

A novel adaptive gray level transform algorithm was proposed aiming at color image,considering that gray level transform would be easy to produce color distortion when it was straightly applied to RGB color images.Original RGB image and the image with implementing gray level transform were all converted to hue/saturation/luminance color space.Consequently hue component of the former and luminance component of the latter were recomposed,and then saturation component was compensated.So the original color was preserved.Our algorithm fully inherits advantages of gray level transform,such as extending effective gray levels,advancing whole contrast,improving image detail,and simple computation complexity,and parameters adaptability.Simultaneously color distortion was avoided on a certain extent.So our algorithm could be applied to adaptive real time color image processing.
