Role of the Information Transfer in the Public Acceptance of the Renewable Energy Technologies

Publisher Summary This chapter highlights the role of information transfer in the public acceptance of the renewable energy technologies. This chapter presents an overview is given on the goals, the results achieved and the importance of the information transfer in the public acceptance. The Hungarian Solar Energy Society developed and started with a National Solar Program as a part of the UNESCO World Solar Summit Process. The National Solar Program aims at the support of the utilization of the renewable energy technologies in Hungary by an intensive information transfer and by supporting the high-level training and education activity in the field of renewable energy resources. The First and the Second Phase of the Program have successfully been realized and a Third Phase of demonstration character is planned. The goal of the Program is to give a “start push” to help the widespread use of the renewable energy technologies in Hungary. The Program is based on the development of the information transfer including a Renewable Energy Information Network (REIN) and the support of the Training and Education System (TES) in the field of Renewable Energy. Regional Centers are active Focal Points of REIN and are in close contact with TES. Finally, the experiences till now show effective results.
