Type 1 and type 2 fuzzy TSK modeling of solar radiation for PV power generation

This paper presents a simple approach to the modeling of solar radiation data with type-1 and type-2 fuzzy models. The approximation error associated with the fuzzy representation is specified by the modeler and is used in the procedure to obtain the fuzzy model. The approach allows fuzzy type-2 modeling using data with uncertainty. The proposed method is used to estimate solar radiation in Al-Kharga Oasis in Egypt for PV power generation. We provide the simulation results for type-1 and type-2 modeling. The results show that type-2 modeling provides better radiation estimates than type-1 modeling, particularly at low radiation levels. In addition, type-2 models also provide an estimate of the estimation error bounds.
