Intellipse: towards knowledge-based tools for the design of commercial data processing systems

Abstract This paper discusses Intellipse, a knowledge-based tool for supporting the design and implementation of commercial data processing (DP) systems. Intellipse is based on the BIS Applied Systems Ltd structured systems design methodology. Also considered are several issues concerned with the introduction of knowledge-based tools into the commercial DP environment. The work discussed in this paper is funded under the UK governments's five-year Alvey programme for research into advanced information technology. (Project No. SE057.) It is a three-year collaborative project, begun in October 1985, involving Aston University. BIS Applied Systems Ltd and the British Steel Corporation (Strip Products Group).
