Saturated concrete elastic modulus prediction

A model is presented to describe the effects of pore water on the elastic properties of saturated concrete. The physical model describes the saturated concrete microstructure with the saturated concrete elastic modulus based on inclusion theory and the Mori-Tanaka method. The influences of cement further hydration and water viscosity in pores and cracks on the elastic modulus of saturated concrete are taken into account in the model. The model shows the relationship between the elastic modulus and the porosity. The theoretic results compared well with previous test data of Yaman et al. and can be used to predict the elastic modulus of saturated concrete.
