Ascertaining fault line using maximum jump of reactive power and effect of shock load

A new method is applied to ascertain the fault line by using “maximum jump of reactive power”. In large scale power systems, emergency control needs lots of information, the operation of controlling must be fast, it is very important to ascertain the fault location immediately and accurately. At the multi line bus of power systems, we can ascertain the fault line by using “maximum jump of reactive power” as dominant judgment and “maximum jump of fault current” as assistant judgment. It needn′t remote signals and is very independent. The simulation results show that this method is simple and reliable, and to ascertain fault line quickly, accurately and effectively.
